Juvenile Pied-billed Grebe
It’s been a good couple of weeks for waterfowl. Ducks, especially species most often seen in Long Island Sound, have been showing up on local lakes. Bantam Lake has had a steady run of scoters and Long-tailed Ducks. Scoters also have been reported from Lake Waramaug in New Preston, Lake Winnemaug in Watertown and Lake Quassapaug in Middlebury, among others.
