Noted food historian Sandy Oliver will be giving a presentation on the Monday after Thanksgiving, November 30, at 7 p.m. at the Beekley Library. Ms. Oliver will talk about the techniques and strategies that early New England households employed to keep themselves in fresh and preserved foods year round including cellaring, salting, pickling, fermenting, preserving in alcohol, and exchanging food with neighbors. Some of these techniques still work today, and Oliver will talk about how to apply some good old ideas to modern life.
