A Boston-based watchdog group wants the state government, which is fighting a $466 million deficit, to stop spending money on bottled water and for state employees to quench their thirst at the tap.

Corporate Accountability International’s report, “Getting States Off the Bottle,” released today, points out Connecticut spent $500,000 on bottled water in 2008, although Gov. M. Jodi Rell has taken steps to reduce such spending since then, including allowing two of three contracts to expire.
