At Highstead: Mini-symposium focuses on forest research | Redding Pilot

Once noted primarily as an arboretum, now Highstead, at 127 Lonetown Road, is focused more on conservation and ecology. A mini symposium in November on current forest research in southern Connecticut is a recent example.

The theme of the forum was “to discuss results from ongoing forest research projects in southwestern Connecticut,” said Bill Toomey, Highstead’s executive director. It was a co-operative workshop co-sponsored by Highstead and The Nature Conservancy to which land trusts and town commissions, as well as the public, were invited.
