UConn compost plant almost ready

Mar 5th, 2010 | By Christopher Zurcher | Category: Recycling

UConn will begin trucking large deliveries of its agricultural and landscaping wastes to the university’s new composting center in April, according to the Web site for the Office of Environmental Policy.

The facility, which has been under construction since November of last year, is located off of Route 32 behind the Spring Manor Farm property. Rich Miller, director of UConn’s Office of Environmental Policy, said that this site was chosen after multiple site visits and meetings with town planners, Mansfield residents, local environmentalists and farm services staff had been conducted.
