EDITORIAL: Bennitt a leader on water quality

Mar 16th, 2010 | By | Category: Open Space, Water

I’m not sure what prompted this editorial that gives a run down on Claire Bennitt’s resume and concludes: “Although Bennitt has retired, her work lives on at the authority, which protects and provides water to 15 south-central Connecticut towns as well as communities in the lower Naugatuck Valley.”

The editorial begins like this: “There is no question of where Claire C. Bennitt stands on water quality and preservation of watershed land as open space. She was there before the South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority was even an idea. Bennitt retired at the end of last year as the authority’s chairwoman after 32 years of service on its board — 22 as secretary treasurer, 10 as chairwoman.”
