Doctor Is Busted For Walking?!!?

Last month the plucky Central Connecticut Bicycle Alliance changed its name to Bike Walk Connecticut, to make the point that it is advocating for walkers as well as bikers. This is good, because despite the growing popularity of both activities, recent experience suggests they’ve got their work cut out for them.

I was biking up North Main Street in West Hartford at 8 a.m. on a chilly Saturday morning a couple of weeks ago. The road has two lanes each way. I was riding north in the right lane, a reasonable distance from the curb. A car came flying up, swerved around me with about a foot to spare, and the driver leaned on his horn.
