Old Saybrook – The owner of the 1,000-acre Preserve property wants to amend the town’s zoning regulations to include a provision that pauses the one-year countdown between the time a developer receives special-permit approval and the time he or she must return with a more detailed plan.

Years ago, Lehman Brothers subsidiary River Sound Development LLC proposed building an 18-hole golf course, a village and a subdivision for 220 homes on the property, one of the largest pieces of forested wetlands remaining in the state.
