The group of about 140 members, known as Friends of the Lake, has joined an international network of academics, engineers and activists who study more than two dozen lakes in the U.S., Asia, Australia, Europe and Israel. The network gathers data and watches the effects of climate change, pollution and other problems.

Lillinonah and Lake Sunapee in New Hampshire are the only lakes in New England being studied as part of the Global Lake Ecological Observatory Network.
