Lobstermen warn moratorium on fishing could leave them extinct

A newly released report by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission, which regulates fishing up the Atlantic Seaboard, recommends a moratorium on all lobster fishing south of Cape Cod for at least five years in an effort to bring back the dwindling lobster population.

Fishermen say the move would be a deadly blow to an already slowing industry, one that could have far-reaching implications for residents ranging from boat mechanics to local restaurants looking for the fresh catch.
