Busway on track after DOT head departure

NEW BRITAIN — The unexpected departure of state Transportation Commissioner Joseph Marie has left questions about how his leaving will affect mass transit projects either under way or scheduled to start in the near future.

Marie, who reportedly was locked out of DOT headquarters in Newington Tuesday, had been at the top spot in state transportation for less than two years.

A proponent of mass transit, Marie was considered a rising star in the transportation sector and since coming to the state had been involved in moving the state away from highways and toward a better mass transit system.
