A vision for downtown: Finding the common factor for Torrington

Jul 5th, 2010 | By | Category: Uncategorized

Survey respondents, web comments and reader submissions all agree that downtown Torrington should model itself after either Northampton, Massachusetts or Blue Back Square in West Hartford or The Shoppes at Farmington Valley in Canton, but still keep the history and architecture of the existing buildings and refrain from building new structures.

Northampton, MA has a main street that is constantly bustling with activity. They have art galleries, non-chain coffee shops, eclectic restaurants, quality thrift stores, tattoo parlors, yoga studios, nightclubs, the Calvin Theater, candy shops, and music stores. There is a wide variety of businesses that cater to a variety of people not just the wealthy crowd.
