Council To Wait For Cheshire BOE Vote On Turf

Until the Cheshire Board of Education formally votes on a new turf field and bids are received for the project, it appears the Town Council will not accept a state grant which is expected to fund more than 60 percent of the work.

Council Chairman Tim Slocum, who stated he is in favor of the project, said the community hasn’t fully embraced a new turf field being installed behind Cheshire High School and, until the Board has a plan in place, the Town Council cannot move forward.

Environmental Headlines isn’t sure whether they’ve read the recent comments from Environmental and Human Health that say:

Synthetic turf fields have been installed at schools across the country, and the findings of a new artificial turf study show that these fields contain chemical carcinogens, neurotoxins, respiratory toxins and skin and eye irritants.
