Tom condon on air conditioning — Air-Conditioning Isn’t All Cool
Sep 3rd, 2010 | By Environmental Headlines -- CT environmental news | Category: GeneralIt’s good to be cool at night, don’t get me wrong, but I’m wondering if we shouldn’t be lookin for a different way to do it. Making the inside cool is helping make the outside warm.
That from an important book by plant scientist and author Stan Cox, an occassional contributor to this page, titled “Losing Our Cool: Uncomfortable Truths About Our Air-Conditioned World (and Finding New Ways to Get Through the Summer).” What I like about Cox’s book is that he isn’t an eco-nag or moralist. He just points out that there are some side effects from the whrrrr in the window, as there are with driving and sprawl, that perhaps we ought to think about.
