Manchester Livable Neighborhoods Program Encourages Residents To Take Charge

Sep 20th, 2010 | By | Category: General

The plan of action in the town’s Livable Neighborhoods program spans the spectrum of grassroots involvement.

Chapters in the program workbook cover tree planting, crime prevention, litter removal, historic preservation, collaborative home improvement and how to plan a block party, among others.

“We’ve become a society that expects government to take care of everything,” according to a statement on the organization’s website at http://www.empowermentinstitute.net. “When it comes to building strong neighborhoods, that’s a little like expecting government to exercise for us, or eat healthy food for us.”
