USDA awards CT $2M for forestry preservation

Connecticut has received a $1.97 million grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to fund numerous programs throughout the state to protect forests on state, municipal, and private lands.

Gov. Rell said this is an ideal time to receive this important funding that will be used for training local firefighters, purchasing open space, making our forests more resilient to threats such as invasive species and diseases, as well as for public outreach campaigns on invasive species such as the Asian longhorned beetle and the Emerald ash borer.

The guide contains general information about nuclear power plants and specific emergency planning information for neighbors of Millstone Station.

It is produced in coordination with the Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security’s (DEMHS) Radiological Emergency Preparedness Unit and Dominion.
