Hikers and walkers who use the Air Line Rail Trail in northeastern Connecticut will have easier access to the path because of a newly constructed pavilion and parking area in Pomfret that opened Saturday.

The trail head off Railroad Street features a pavilion that sits on the site of the former Pomfret train station. It was built with a $100,00 Small Town Economic Assistance Program grant, according First Selectman James Rivers.
