States Lead the Way to Reduce Global Warming Emissions: UCS

Dec 9th, 2010 | By | Category: General

In the absence of national leadership, many states are taking matters into their own hands to reduce carbon emissions, the Union of Concerned Scientists reports.

Last month in California, voters thwarted an aggressive attempt by oil companies to kill the state’s landmark Global Warming Solutions Act—showing support for clean energy technology development as the path towards a revitalized economy and new jobs.

And New York just released plans to reduce their state’s climate emissions 80 percent by 2050. Combined, the two states represent almost 20 percent of the U.S. population! Both states’ climate plans are currently open for public comment.

Anyone can weigh in to show support for strong state-level climate action today.
