HARTFORD — The lawyer for the woman mauled by a 200-pound chimp in February 2009 is mystified that the state only acted after the attack to add gorillas, chimpanzees, and orangutans to the list of potentially dangerous animals banned in Connecticut.

The DEP next week will hold a hearing on proposed new regulations to carry out a 2009 law that added the primates to the list of banned animals.
