River water quality improvement projects sought

Nonprofits, municipalities and schools in the Connecticut River watershed in Connecicut and Massachusetts are invited to submit applications for grants to fund projects that will result in improved river water quality, ecosystem health, public awareness or recreational access to the river.

The grants will be administered through a joint effort of the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission, the Capitol Region Council of Governments, the Franklin Region Council of Governments and the Connecticut River Estuary Regional Planning Agency. Proposals are due by March 18.

An application form can be downloaded at www.pvpc.org. Funding is being provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
