Elektron Solar writes: Elektron Solar, based in Westport, with partners, recently completed a commercial solar installation integrated with electric vehicle charging stations. It is certainly the first in Westport and, quite possibly, the first in state.

In short, offsetting the electric vehicle charging at the newly renovated building with solar generated electricity from the roof array is extremely green and, most notably, completely energy independent of oil, natural gas, coal, nuclear, etc. Effectively, you are replacing gasoline with solar generated renewable energy. It ”closes the loop” for an electric vehicle.

This project is part of an office building renovation and is an example of the private marketplace integrating renewable energy to, not only be green and a responsible member of the community, but to add value to the property. Again, this may be the first in the state.

Next Wednesday 6/29 we are having a small event to ”throw the switch” on the project. Jonathan Steinberg, State Rep. D-136 and Energy & Technology Committee will be present. I can provide much more detailed information.
