If Burns had lived in western Connecticut, he could have been home by now.
For the Highlands — the 3.5 million-acre swath of the Appalachian Mountains in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Connecticut — runs through Danbury up into the state’s northwest corner.
And if the state’s Highlands Committee has its say, federal dollars may some day come the region’s way, the better to preserve open space here.
The question is: Will the U.S. Congress allocate any money to the Highlands?
