Hearing moved to Welte Hall

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is moving its   public hearing on a permit for the New Britain to Hartford Busway to Welte Hall on the campus of Central Connecticut State University.  The hearing had originally been scheduled to take place at Torp Theatre at CCSU.

The hearing will take place in Welte Hall September 7 at 6:30 p.m., and continue, if necessary, at the same time on September 8. Prior to the start of the hearing on September 7, representatives from both DEEP and the Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) will be available at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the project informally and answer questions from the public.

At the September 7 hearing, DOT will make a brief presentation on its permit application, DEEP staff will speak to its findings, and then the public will have an opportunity to comment on the inland wetlands permit, which is the focus of this hearing.

Parking for Welte Hall is available at the adjacent Welte Garage on the campus. Directions to CCSU and a campus map can be found at www.ccsu.edu/page.cfm?p=1378.

The hearing is on an application from DOT for an inland wetlands permit required for construction of the Busway.

DOT’s permit application – and other documents related to it – can be found at www.ct.gov/dep/busway and the application is also available for viewing at DEEP’s public file room, 79 Elm St., Hartford.

Detailed information on the overall Busway project can be found at www.ctrapidtransit.com.
