The reconstruction project will add 16 geothermal wells to improve the building’s energy efficiency.

Going green helped the library receive a $1 million grant from the Connecticut State Library, which required the project to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification standards, a national standard for sustainable energy created by the U.S. Green Building Council.
