EDITORIAL: Cooperative spirit

Good news and optimistic behavior doesn’t sell. A brief look at what dominates our airwaves and printed media gives ample testimony to this fact. Our interest is arrested by bad behavior, scandals, bickering and worse. But, occasionally, good news and cooperative behavior peeks through.

Two instances of this occurred this week when Cornwall celebrated the lightning-speed restoration of the bridge spanning Mill Brook on Lower River Road, and when Scott Tilden, development director of the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters, detailed the kind of cooperation between legislators, business people and conservationists that can help lessen both the Earth’s environmental woes and Connecticut’s economic ones.
