Torrington, 5 others, receive Connecticut Main Street Center grant

Connecticut Main Street Center, the downtown revitalization and economic development nonprofit, announced Wednesday that six communities or organizations — including Torrington — have been awarded a total of $68,737 in 2012 Preservation of Place grants.

2012 Preservation of Place grant recipients also include Main Street Waterbury, the Town of Suffield, Thread City Development Corporation (Willimantic), the City of West Haven, and the Northwestern Connecticut Regional Planning Collaborative, on behalf of the towns of Cornwall, Kent, Norfolk, Sharon, Salisbury, Falls Village and Goshen.
