North Stamford residents noticed some unusual traffic this week.
Large dump trucks, which are these days more likely to be found at construction sites in the South End than north of the Merritt Parkway, have been transporting mounds of soil to the padlocked Scofieldtown Park since early this week. The trucks are moving all the topsoil from Mill River Park to make way for fresher dirt, said Milton Puryear, executive director of the Mill River Collaborative.
“The topsoil — none of it is going to be kept,” Puryear said Thursday. “It’s all being shipped to other places.”
