Highstead is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to manage its 140-acre landscape, facilities, and local operations in a manner that is
consistent with the organization’s history and objectives. Highstead is a non-profit organization based in Redding Connecticut dedicated to conserving the New England landscape and to advancing the Wildlands and Woodlands Vision ( by partnering with and promoting the efforts of other organizations and agencies. Highstead’s woodlands, meadows, wetlands, unique collections of native trees and shrubs, and associated trail system provide a sanctuary for the study and appreciation of native plants and habitats. Its on-site facilities,
including superb office, meeting and display facilities, support a robust program of ecological research, conservation collaboration, and education.
Effective management will maintain and enhance the exquisite wooded landscape, facilities, and botanical collections, while also providing a
local setting to showcase the regional conservation and science vision.


Candidates must have at least five years experience in facilities and landscape maintenance, as well as significant experience in administration
and financial management.  Candidates should also have experience with personnel and nonprofit management; experience in site-based conservation education and outreach is also a plus. Highstead needs a rigorous financial and site manager, but also a person who is a collaborative, team player and contributes to a strong sense of community and shared mission as this nonprofit organization continues to evolve.
