‘Green infrastructure’ techniques could cut New Haven sewer overflows by 320 million gallons

NEW HAVEN — “Green infrastructure” techniques could reduce the amount of combined sewer overflows that New Haven discharges into Long Island Sound each year by about 320 million gallons — the equivalent of four Exxon Valdez tankers, officials said Tuesday.

Figure in Bridgeport and green infrastructure could reduce the amount of overflows by a total of 627 million gallons, they said.
