WWF welcomes the 2013-2020 Action Plan on Climate Change (PACC 2020) and accompanying Government Strategy for adapting to Climate Change from the government of Quebec.
The PACC 2020 sets an ambitious target of 20 per cent emissions reduction by 2020, based on 1990 levels, and the province is already making progress: 2009 emissions are 2.5 per cent below 1990 levels. Overall in Canada, emissions are 35 per cent higher than in 1990. Today’s announcement outlines important steps, and rightly targets transportation as one of the major contributors to climate change.
