Stakeholders from as far as Washington, D.C., met at Long Beach Park to celebrate Monday morning a collaboration honored as a national model: restoration of mile-long Long Beach to a natural habitat.

The barrier beach once had three dozen summer cottages. They were condemned years ago after a bridge linking the island to Bridgeport burned.
