Millstone Nuclear Plant Closely Watching Hurricane Sandy, Laying Plans For Severe Weather

Operations managers at Millstone Power Station, the state’s nuclear power plant, were monitoring Hurricane Sandy on Friday, aiming to determine what emergency procedures need to take place in coming days and whether they need to shut down the plant’s one active reactor.

In the next few days, “we’re really going to solidify what actions we’re going to be taking,” said Ken Holt, Millstone spokesman. “We’re monitoring the storm and what it’s doing as it gets closer.”
