UConn Water Proposal Concerns Canton Officials

Town officials eager to use the Farmington River as an asset to revitalizing Collinsville are joining those who are concerned about the potential impact of providing water from the river’s watershed to the University of Connecticut.

The Metropolitan District Commission has proposed building a pipeline from Manchester to Mansfield to bring more water to UConn’s Storrs campus. The university’s demand for water has taxed local resources and the MDC has said the additional supply would come from its Barkhamsted and Nepaug reservoirs.
