Connecticut DOT’s Rest Areas Going Green

5-95-395-rest-stops-solarThe CT Department of Transportation has partnered with Project Service, Centerplan Construction and Greenskies Renewable Energy. Greenskies has been awarded 12 construction contracts for the installation of solar photovoltaic arrays at service plaza locations on I-95, I-395 and Connecticut Route 15. To date, Greenskies has completed eight of these projects. The system sizes range from 3kW to 22kW. In all, these systems will be responsible for the production of approximately 238,000 kWh a year, enough energy to power approximately 100 Connecticut homes.
