Protesters again target coal-burning plant

Aug 15th, 2013 | By | Category: Energy

About 25 protesters from the environmental group Healthy Connecticut Alliance converged on McLevy Green to protest the coal-burning Bridgeport Harbor Power Station, which they said is a threat to health and uses “technology from an earlier century.”

“That plant needs to be closed tomorrow,” said Elaine Thompson-Ward, who lives in the city’s East End. “We’re right across the water from the coal plant, and my sons use inhalers all the time.”
