Community Farm of Simsbury: Farm to Table Education

Aug 26th, 2013 | By | Category: General

Modern conveniences have made it easy to forget where food comes from. Especially in urban areas, the unpackaged and unprocessed form of vegetables can be foreign to children.

Community Farm of Simsbury is looking to change that for the children of Hartford and Simsbury. The farm, in its current operation since 2008, has a dual mission of educating youth while growing healthy and organic foods.

“If you want kids to eat healthy, they need to understand where their food comes from,” says program director Cori Behm. “They see it growing, pick it out of the ground, and they love it more.”
