Our View: Lobster ban isn’t long-term solution (Norwich Bulletin editorial)

For the first time, there is a ban on lobster fishing in Long Island Sound.

The intent — to allow the lobster population to grow — is good. The results are uncertain.

From an economic point of view, local lobster prices will rise, but the ban — which runs through Nov. 28 — will hit hardest on Connecticut’s fishermen, who are already struggling. But in the long run, if the lobster population has time to recover, the industry will be stronger.
