Millstone plans to move emergency operations facility to Norwich

Millstone Nuclear Power Station’s parent company is moving the Waterford plant’s emergency operations facility to an 18,000-square-foot space in Norwich’s industrial park, officials announced on Friday.

Construction on the $10 million site is expected to take less than a year pending city approval, and the 24 Stott Ave. center should be fully operational by the end of 2014.

“It’s a good location with all the utilities that we need right there,” Dominion spokesman Ken Holt said. “We want it to be in operation by the end of the next year, so I’d say it’s a priority for us.”
