By the end of Lutz’s one-hour presentation – which included a question-and-answer session – it was evident that the rich history of New England’s largest and longest river was matched only by the deep curiosity of the nearly 150 attendees.

“I didn’t realize the Connecticut River was such a big deal, that it has so many migrating species and contributes 70 percent of the water in the Long Island Sound,” said David Rhodes, a Simsbury resident attending as a member of the public.
