Beach bluff repairs advance in East Lyme

Dec 9th, 2013 | By | Category: General

The Crescent Beach Association plans to restore the rocky bluff and prevent further erosion with a new engineering design.

The project has so far cleared several hurdles. The Zoning Commission approved the repairs last month, ruling they are consistent with the state’s Coastal Area Management Act.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has indicated that as a public walkway the bluff is eligible for about 70 percent federal reimbursement, association representatives have said. Crescent Beach residents have approved the remaining amount through assessments based on a percentage of the value of their properties.
