East Lyme is slated to receive $200,000, half of which would be used to buy the 41-acre Bayreuther property overlooking the Niantic River.

On January 7, State Senator Andrea Stillman (D-Waterford) joined Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, State Rep. Ed Jutila (D-East Lyme, Salem) and State Rep. Betsy Ritter (D-Waterford, Montville) to announce a state grant to purchase 41 acres of property for open space preservation as part of the Oswegatchie Hills Nature Preserve in East Lyme. The funding is expected to be approved at Thursday’s meeting of the State Bond Commission.
