EPA: Overall release of pollutants down in Connecticut in 2012

Feb 10th, 2014 | By | Category: General

The federal Environmental Protection Agency’s most recent analysis of toxic chemical releases show that the amounts of pollutants released in Connecticut has decreased since 2011, the previous reporting year.

The Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) conducted by the EPA is a part of its effort to provide access to environmental information to the public. The report provides information of toxic chemical disposals and releases into the air, land and water. It also assesses waste management and pollution prevention activities in neighborhoods across the country. The study is intended to inspect the pollutants produced by power plants, manufacturers and other facilities that employ 10 or more workers and exceed thresholds for chemicals.
