Bill would give Connecticut property owners more power in tree-trimming process

Lawmakers and environmental groups are reacting to legislation passed by the state Senate late Wednesday that will impose new, stricter rules on Connecticut’s electric utilities when they seek to trim trees adjacent to their power lines .

The 35-0 vote by the Senate sends House Bill 5408 to Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s desk to be signed into law. The bill already had received the approval of the state House of Representatives.
