Insurance industry sees risk, adapting to guard against climate change

Despite study after study showing that climate change may already be upon us with a host of unpleasant consequences, the public has not developed a sense of urgency about it. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change drew a consensus from scientists who were both proponents and skeptics. The U.S. National Climate Assessment by 13 federal agencies sees more extreme weather, including heat waves and heavy rains in the Northeast. The Center for Naval Analysis, a think tank, sees climate change as a driver of conflicts.
