Ed Note: I’m wondering if this means they’ve committed to invest in Connecticut long-term, or invest long-term, while based in Connecticut.

Sitting behind a desk used by Charles Lindbergh and joined by hundreds of employees from Pratt & Whitney, Governor Dannel P. Malloy today held a signing ceremony for Public Act 14-2, an agreement under which United Technologies Corp. (UTC) will invest up to $500 million to upgrade and expand its aerospace research, development and manufacturing facilities over the next five years. During the same time period, UTC expects to invest up to $4 billion in research and other capital expenditures in the state. The agreement is expected to have an impact on more than 75,000 jobs in Connecticut.

Among the area towns of East Windsor, Ellington, Enfield, South Windsor, Windsor and Windsor Locks, UTC has the largest representation in Windsor Locks, with 3,7327 employees working at its United Technologies Aerospace Systems location. There are 225 Windsor Locks residents who are UTC employees. Of nearly 2,500 direct suppliers across Connecticut, 32 are based in Windsor Locks.
