Westport Wants Historic Property for Flood Control

The owner of an 1880-built, one-story cabin on about one-third of an acre at 199 Newtown Turnpike and only a few feet from the west branch of the Saugatuck River has an eager buyer—the Town of Westport.

Dewey Loselle, town operations director, appeared before the Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) tonight with a request from First Selectman Jim Marpe for a positive P&Z report regarding the planned acquisition. The P&Z voted unanimously for a positive report.
