Greenwich Land Trust is also combating invasive pests by planting a special kind American Chestnut Tree. A pathogen wiped out four billion of these trees in the mid 1900s.

“The Land Trust is going to be partnering with the American Chestnut Foundation, and will be planting hundreds of these hybrid Chestnuts that will be resistant to the pathogen,” said Conaway.
