$125K grant could breathe new life into Bristol brownfields site

Across the street from ESPN is a 17-acre site that Mayor Ken Cockayne called “dead property right now,” just scrub trees and brush on a partially polluted parcel at the doorstep to Lake Compounce.

But if environmental studies underway now and set for completion next year find what’s expected — a few hot spots that need remediation — city and state leaders said they can start searching for a developer who might be able to transform the parcel.
