Norwalk Resident Honored by Westchester Land Trust

Norwalk resident, Candace M. Schafer, was recently honored by the Westchester Land Trust at it’s 2014 Benefit “An Evening Under the Stars.”  More than 300 people showed their support for the Schafer and the land conservation efforts of the organization at the event held on Saturday, June 14th at Old Salem Farm in North Salem.

Among many urgent environmental needs are decrepit sewer pipes leaking sewage during rainstorms, a particularly dire problem in older Long Island Sound communities like Port Chester, Mamaroneck and New Rochelle. Most of the sewers in Westchester communities date from the early 20th century.
